Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Staff Pharmacist to join our team under the general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy. The role involves performing professional pharmacy functions in an institutional setting, in line with the Vermont Board of Pharmacy Rules and Regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and Interpretation of Physician Orders:
    • Evaluate physician orders for drug incompatibilities and potential allergies.
    • Assess the appropriateness of therapy, including drug selection, dosage, and administration frequency.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work with physicians and allied health personnel to address any questions or discrepancies regarding physician orders.
  • Medication Safety:
    • Demonstrate knowledge of high-alert and high-risk medications and implement measures to ensure their safe use.
    • Utilize clinical knowledge and standard protocols to enhance medication safety.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist by the Vermont Board of Pharmacy.
  • Experience: Prior experience in an institutional pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Proficiency in evaluating and interpreting physician orders.
    • Knowledge of high-alert and high-risk medications and safe medication practices.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Doctorate in Pharmacy from an accredited school of Pharmacy.
  • One year of pharmacy experience required; hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of total pharmacy experience preferred.

Working Environment:
This position involves working in a collaborative environment focused on the safe and effective use of medications in patient care. Regular interaction with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals is essential to promote optimal therapeutic outcomes.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $120,000 to $168,000, with partial relocation assistance.
