Our client is seeking a full-time Paralegal to join our Hospitality & Leisure practice group in Chicago, with potential consideration for other office locations on a case-by-case basis. The paralegal will support attorneys by handling real estate and transactional matters, reporting directly to the Senior Practice Director while collaborating closely with assigned lawyers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review real estate conveyance and closing documents.
  • Perform due diligence tasks, including reviewing title commitments, surveys, zoning reports, and associated documentation.
  • Coordinate the closing process for acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and debt or equity transactions, including managing signature page packages and closing deliverables, verifying checklists, and handling recording requirements.
  • Draft, review, and file UCC financing statements.
  • Order and analyze UCC, lien, litigation, and similar searches.
  • Manage entity formation, maintenance, and associated filings.
  • Review and assemble officer certificates, resolutions, organizational documents, and other closing deliverables, with a preference for candidates experienced in drafting such materials.
  • Compile and organize comprehensive closing books with detailed indices.
  • Conduct routine fact or legal research, prepare reports, and manage filings for special assignments.
  • Serve as a liaison with clients and external entities regarding transactional matters.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree required; a Paralegal Certificate with equivalent experience is acceptable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of real estate experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or title company.
  • Experience with large, sophisticated transactions is preferred.
  • Title and survey proficiency required; hospitality sector experience is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Excellent client service and communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters discreetly and accurately.
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, PDF creation tools, document management systems, and timekeeping software (e.g., Elite).
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $70,000 - $110,000, based on experience
