Government Affairs Manager (Hybrid)
Our client, a global leader in consumer products, is seeking a Government Affairs Manager to develop and drive a comprehensive public policy and advocacy strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
This individual will play a critical role in navigating legislative and regulatory challenges impacting the CPG sector, particularly in areas such as packaging, sustainability, and global trade compliance.
Salary range: $125,000 to $150,000 a year
Key Responsibilities:
Policy Monitoring & Analysis: Track and assess legislative, regulatory, and political developments at the local, state, federal, and international levels that may impact business operations.
Advocacy & Strategy: Identify priority issues and design proactive advocacy strategies to mitigate risk and unlock competitive advantages.
Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain effective relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, and key industry associations.
Executive Advisory: Brief senior leadership on public affairs trends and help align policy engagement with internal strategic goals.
Consultant & Project Management: Oversee external consultants and lead cross-functional initiatives related to government affairs and compliance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Government Relations, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in government affairs, lobbying, or public policy—ideally within or supporting the CPG industry
Deep understanding of policy issues affecting the sector, including plastics, packaging, tariffs, ingredient regulations, and EU policy
Experience working with sustainability-focused NGOs, trade organizations, and advocacy groups
Proven ability to craft compelling public policy messages and convert business needs into actionable strategies
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills with both internal stakeholders and external officials
Solid project management experience, including consultant oversight and initiative coordination
Prior experience in global or multinational companies is a strong plus
High level of integrity, initiative, and strategic execution
