Our client, a premier player in the technology and defense sector, is seeking a Subcontracts Lead to drive the full subcontract lifecycle across federal, international, and commercial programs. This is a mission-critical, onsite role based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, offering the opportunity to make a tangible impact on cutting-edge defense initiatives.
As the Subcontracts Lead, you’ll be responsible for overseeing complex subcontract operations—from strategy and solicitation through performance oversight and closeout—while ensuring compliance, cost efficiency, and contract integrity.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end execution of major subcontracts, ensuring adherence to cost, schedule, technical, and quality requirements.
- Develop acquisition strategies and create Statements of Work (SOW).
- Issue Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and manage source selection processes.
- Negotiate complex subcontract types (FFP, CPFF, T&M, etc.) and maintain comprehensive contract documentation.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and act as a liaison across engineering, legal, program management, and quality teams.
- Ensure compliance with FAR/DFAR, ITAR/EAR, prime contract flow-downs, and company procedures.
- Identify and mitigate subcontract-related risks while contributing to cost-saving initiatives.
- Support audits and business development efforts, including the creation of teaming agreements and NDAs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 7+ years; 13+ years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 5 years of subcontract management experience within the aerospace and defense industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing all phases of subcontracts.
- Strong working knowledge of FAR/DFAR regulations and compliance.
- Must be able to work onsite in Fort Wayne, Indiana (relocation assistance available).
- Title and experience must clearly reflect hands-on subcontracts leadership.
Salary & Benefits
- Base Salary: $115,000 – $120,000
