Our client, a top-tier Am Law 100 firm, is seeking an experienced and proactive Legal Secretary (Litigation) to support its high-performing legal team in Washington, DC. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring administrative excellence and consistent service delivery to both internal and external clients.
The Legal Secretary will manage a wide range of responsibilities, from drafting legal documents and coordinating projects to supporting billing and timekeeping functions. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional with litigation experience who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-level administrative support and maintain a collaborative physical presence in the office (3 days/week).
- Coordinate legal tasks, projects, and timelines, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Handle administrative functions including billing, time and expense entries, matter openings, client presentations, and meeting coordination.
- Prepare, format, and process complex legal documents and filings with courts and agencies.
- Maintain client materials in document management systems and track changes efficiently.
- Collaborate with support departments such as DPS, Williams Lea, and the Client Service Center.
- Work closely with the Finance Department on client billing, including proofreading invoices, applying task codes, adjusting rates, processing write-offs, and preparing expense reports.
- Provide proactive support during peak workloads and work overtime when needed.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of legal secretarial or legal administrative experience
- Litigation experience is required
- Proven ability to prioritize and multitask in a high-pressure legal environment
- Exceptional communication skills (both written and oral)
Proficiencies:
- Expert-level proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and video conferencing tools
- Familiarity with legal billing systems, timekeeping, and expense processing
- Knowledge of court filing procedures and jurisdictional requirements
- Proficient in document management systems
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
Salary & Benefits:
- Base Salary: $76,000 – $105,000
- Bonus Eligible
- Overtime Pay (for hours worked over 40/week)
