Senior Executive
The Vice President of Emergency Services is responsible for strategic planning, business development, and operational leadership of our emergency services. This role focuses on enhancing service quality, patient safety, and overall delivery of emergency care, while fostering a culture aligned with our organization's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Patient Safety
- Lead the development and implementation of evidence-based practices to ensure superior clinical outcomes.
- Drive initiatives to reduce clinical variation and enhance performance efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards, updating policies and procedures accordingly.
- Oversee patient throughput strategies, including capacity planning and discharge processes.
Service Excellence
- Cultivate a patient-centered culture that distinguishes our emergency services as a premier destination for care.
- Implement strategies to improve patient satisfaction and experience.
- Collaborate with patient experience leaders to ensure adherence to best practices.
People Leadership
- Foster an environment that promotes employee engagement and professional development.
- Identify training needs and provide coaching to enhance team performance.
- Attract, develop, and retain top talent to build a high-performing team.
Growth & Strategic Planning
- Develop and execute strategic plans to expand emergency services and introduce new offerings.
- Monitor healthcare trends and adjust strategies to maintain competitive positioning.
- Establish and nurture relationships with external stakeholders to support business growth.
Financial Management
- Prepare and manage operational and capital budgets aligned with organizational goals.
- Implement cost-effective measures to optimize resource utilization.
- Ensure effective labor management and staffing to meet patient care needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of recent (within the last year) experience as a Director of Emergency Services in an acute care setting.
- Proven leadership in high-volume Emergency Departments (50,000+ annual visits).
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Master's Degree or enrollment in an approved education plan required.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas or compact license as per regulations.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

- Reporting To: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
- Reason for Opening: Previous VP transitioned to Pediatric ER Director role
- Unit Composition: 26-bed Adult ER, 10-bed Pediatric ER, and 3 Free-Standing Emergency Departments (FSEDs)
- Team Size: Approximately 160 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs)
