Our client, a prestigious Am Law 100 law firm, is seeking an experienced Managing Clerk to lead and expand a newly centralized Managing Clerk’s Office (MCO) across its U.S. locations.

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented legal operations professional with extensive experience in docketing and litigation support to take on a key leadership role. This individual will be responsible for overseeing court filings, ensuring procedural compliance, mentoring docketing professionals, and driving innovation in litigation support services across multiple offices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Operations

  • Lead the development and execution of a centralized Managing Clerk’s Office across multiple U.S. offices.
  • Collaborate with practice group leaders to assess operational needs and implement scalable litigation support solutions.
  • Partner with the Office of General Counsel to identify and mitigate procedural risks.
  • Manage and mentor the Court & Calendar team, providing guidance, support, and professional development.
  • Align department strategy with the Senior Manager of Court & Calendar.
  • Develop and implement training programs on civil procedure, e-filing, and jurisdictional compliance.
  • Produce regular reports on filing activity and deadline adherence.

Court Filings & Procedural Support

  • Oversee all electronic and physical court filings across federal and state jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate filings with local counsel and external service providers.
  • Stay current on procedural rules and filing systems (e.g., PACER, NYSCEF).
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for multi-jurisdictional filings.

Calendar Management & Compliance

  • Manage comprehensive calendaring of critical litigation dates, including deadlines and statutes of limitation.
  • Lead initiatives to improve docketing accuracy, efficiency, and use of technology.

Innovation & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Champion process improvements that enhance legal service delivery and firmwide litigation support.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and operational enhancements to support legal teams.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) required.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Managing Clerk/Attorney or 8+ years as a Deputy Managing Clerk/Attorney in a multi-office law firm.
  • Minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience with court filings, procedural rules, and docketing systems.
  • Proven supervisory and leadership experience in a legal setting.
  • Expertise in electronic filing platforms (e.g., PACER, NYSCEF) and docketing software (e.g., CompuLaw, LegalKEY).
  • Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and remain available after hours as needed.

Salary and Benefits

  • Base Salary: $180,000 – $265,000 annually, commensurate with experience
