A well-established law firm with a rapidly expanding Employment Law Department is seeking a distinguished Employment Law Partner with significant experience in matters involving the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). This position offers a rare opportunity to lead the firm’s PAGA practice, spearhead business development efforts, and provide mentorship to junior attorneys within a highly professional and collegial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. PAGA Litigation:
    • Manage and oversee all aspects of PAGA claims, including class action-style lawsuits.
    • Develop and execute strategic legal approaches for PAGA claims, ensuring optimal risk management, settlement negotiations, and litigation outcomes.
    • Oversee discovery, depositions, witness preparation, and trial preparation to ensure successful litigation.
  2. Client Advisory & Compliance:
    • Provide expert counsel on compliance with California labor laws, conduct audits, and help clients navigate the complexities of PAGA-related risks.
    • Advise clients on developing policies related to wage and hour issues, employee classification, and break compliance.
    • Stay ahead of legislative and regulatory changes affecting PAGA claims, ensuring clients' ongoing compliance.
  3. Client Relationship & Business Development:
    • Foster and expand relationships with current clients and proactively develop new business opportunities.
    • Lead presentations, workshops, and training sessions on PAGA compliance and litigation.
    • Leverage the firm’s reputation to network and generate leads in the PAGA practice area.
  4. Team Supervision & Mentorship:
    • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and staff, ensuring the team delivers high-quality work.
    • Review and approve legal work, including motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
    • Foster a collaborative and professional environment, encouraging continued education on PAGA developments.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Experience: 8+ years of litigation experience with a focus on PAGA claims.
  • Skills:
    • Expertise in PAGA litigation and class actions.
    • Strong trial skills preferred (trial experience is highly valued, but not required).
    • Exceptional research, analytical, negotiating, written, and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to manage complex cases and proactively drive the litigation process.
    • Demonstrated leadership and mentorship ability with junior staff and attorneys.

Additional Information:

  • Salary: $230,000 - $300,000, depending on experience and book of business.
