Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive veterinary care including examination, diagnostics, treatment, and surgery for shelter and community animals.
  • Perform sterilization procedures and oversee routine and emergency surgical care.
  • Participate in public health initiatives and shelter population management.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant medical records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and improve care protocols and workflows.
  • Provide guidance and training to veterinary staff and support personnel.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Tennessee.
  • DEA registration (or ability to obtain) to prescribe and manage controlled substances.
  • Proficiency in surgical procedures and shelter-based medicine preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Salary & Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary: $115,000 – $165,000, based on experience and qualifications.
