Join a leading healthcare system in Houston, TX as a Pediatric ECMO Specialist. In this full-time, onsite role, you’ll support critically ill pediatric patients by operating ECMO machines during life-saving interventions. Ideal for experienced RNs with pediatric or NICU backgrounds.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) equipment during critical care procedures for pediatric patients
  • Deliver safe, high-quality, age-appropriate nursing care to pediatric and NICU patients
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and support examinations and treatments
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate individualized care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in rapid response situations requiring ECMO intervention
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with all hospital policies and regulatory standards
  • Educate patients and families regarding care plans and procedures
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior clinical staff
  • Actively participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program (required)
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Active RN license to practice in the State of Texas (or compact state eligibility)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
    • Additional specialty certifications may be required depending on department needs
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience operating ECMO equipment (required)
    • Pediatric or NICU critical care nursing experience (required)
    • Experience levels:
      • RN I: Less than 1 year
      • Skills:
        • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
        • Ability to work effectively under pressure in high-acuity environments
        • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
