Am Law 200 firm seeks a Labor & Employment Associate with 3–6 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have strong defense litigation skills and experience handling workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Defend clients in labor and employment litigation, including cases involving:
- Workplace discrimination, harassment, and retaliation
- Wrongful termination and other employment-related claims
- Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery
- Conduct legal research and prepare case evaluations
- Participate in administrative hearings and depositions (experience preferred)
- Draft employment policies, handbooks, and training materials
- Advise clients on daily HR and employment law issues
- Conduct internal investigations and workplace training sessions
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- 3 to 6 years of labor and employment experience in a law firm setting
- Member of the New York Bar, or eligible to waive in
- Strong litigation skills, including drafting, research, and oral advocacy
- Experience with administrative agencies (e.g., EEOC, NYSDHR) is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong academic background
- Professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic
Note: Candidates with “jumpy” or primarily contract/temp work experience will not be considered for this role.
