Senior Manager/Supervisor
Top Tier Reps is seeking a Senior Employment Law Attorney with 10+ years of experience in employment litigation, specifically involving public school districts. This position is ideal for attorneys with deep expertise in defending school districts in complex employment matters, and a passion for guiding public entities through regulatory and legal compliance challenges.
Responsibilities:
Litigation & Risk Management
- Defend school districts in employment matters, including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation cases
- Manage agency complaints filed with EEOC, DFEH, PERB, and other labor boards
- Conduct discovery, draft motions, handle settlement negotiations, and participate in hearings or trials
Client Advisory & Strategy
- Provide legal counsel to school boards, superintendents, and HR personnel
- Guide clients through ADA, FMLA, Title IX, California Education Code, and employment compliance issues
- Advise on union issues, labor disputes, and employee discipline matters
Policy Review & Compliance
- Draft and revise employee handbooks, contracts, and disciplinary procedures
- Ensure employment policies align with local, state, and federal education employment laws
- Monitor changes in legislation affecting school district employment practices
Training & Education
- Conduct legal trainings for school HR teams and administrators
- Lead workshops on best practices for compliance, employee relations, and legal risk prevention
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active member of the California State Bar in good standing
- Minimum of 10 years of employment litigation defense experience
- Prior experience representing school districts required
- Public entity defense and trial experience preferred
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills
- Strong leadership and case management abilities
