Our client, a top law firm, is expanding its Privacy & Security practice and seeks a Junior Associate Attorney with 2 to 4 years of specialized experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, particularly in relation to business transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, licensing agreements, technology transactions, and general commercial contracts. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, based in either New York City or Silicon Valley.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Client Focus: The firm represents technology and life sciences companies, including leaders and innovators in fields such as AI, social media, gaming, cybersecurity, autonomous vehicles, cryptocurrency, and digital healthcare. They provide guidance on managing growth and mitigating risks associated with sensitive information handling.
  • Legal Services: The firm offers a broad range of cybersecurity legal services, including governance, compliance, data breach response, and defense against regulatory investigations and class-action litigation.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Legal Expertise: Deep understanding of federal privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA, GLBA, FCRA, CAN-SPAM, COPPA, and the FTC Act), state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA), and international privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR), as well as knowledge of technology and data flow.
  • Experience: Proven track record in conducting due diligence for M&A and financings, drafting privacy and security policies, negotiating privacy-related contracts and data processing agreements, providing product counseling, and performing privacy compliance assessments.
  • Credentials: Strong academic background with superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • References: Robust professional references.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with adtech and AI is advantageous but not required.
  • Transition Candidates: Highly qualified individuals with experience in M&A or technology transactions looking to shift into privacy and cybersecurity roles will be considered.

Additional Information:

  • Bar Membership: New York or California bar membership or eligibility to take the next available exam is mandatory.
  • Salary: $235,000 to $310,000, plus bonus.

Requirements: Candidates should have a stable career history and experience with an Am Law 100/200 firm or a leading boutique/mid-size law firm.
