Health Care Litigation Staff Attorney
Sacramento, CA

Legal
Entry Level
Brief Description:
Our client is a leading law firm, is seeking a staff attorney with a minimum of four years of litigation experience to join its nationally recognized health care practice. We are looking for candidates who want to be part of a dynamic, top-tier health care litigation practice, litigating complex, important, and often first-impression matters for the largest health care institutions in the state.
The health care litigators at our client's firm regularly try cases before courts, arbitrators, and juries, and handle the appellate proceedings as well. The health care practice is multidisciplinary, helping clients successfully navigate the legal and business intricacies of a wide range of legal and strategic matters. The significance and complexity of the matters that the firm handles frequently place it at the forefront of making new health care law. This position offers a unique opportunity to become an industry expert in a large and vibrant sector. Because the law is constantly changing in the health care industry, the work done is frequently transformative, regularly making new published law in the field. Over the past decade, our client's team has been responsible for more published health care decisions in California than any other law firm. The practice is both trial-oriented and intensely academic, as the laws and regulations can be novel and complex. If you are interested in deepening your experience in the health law field, trying cases, and helping shape the associated appellate jurisprudence, this position offers all of that.
Candidates should have:
- Hands-on litigation experience, including conducting legal research, handling discovery, taking and defending depositions, conducting witness interviews, counseling clients, drafting pleadings, writing briefs, and preparing and arguing motions.
- Excellent legal writing and research skills are required.
- Candidates should be aware that this staff attorney position is distinct from an associate position and is not considered on track for advancement to partnership.
- Minimum of four years of solid litigation experience.
- Excellent research, writing, and advocacy skills.
- Effective and efficient problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work independently and proactively and to develop creative solutions to meet client and team needs.
- California bar membership in good standing.
